Our latest news post comes from Kirstin Papworth, who recently finished a Home Live Arts internship;
I have been interning with Home Live Art since July, assisting with the team’s marketing, administration and production of live art events. This involved liaising with and providing assistance to artists and occasionally their PR teams. My greatest involvement was for Coastal Currents festival, held in Hastings, where, in the run up, I assisted with the recruitment of Willi Dorner’s Bodies in Urban Spaces and Charlotte Spencer’s Walking Stories. I sent out press releases, collated applications and was the first point of contact for booking and enquiries by telephone and email.
During Coastal Currents, I stewarded Bodies in Urban Spaces performances, helped to build a pop-up cinema in a shipping container and created a presentation featuring highlights of the festival and media coverage, shown at the closing party.
In addition to Coastal Currents, I supported the production of Open East Festival at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Shuffle Festival, where Home Live Art had an exciting and vibrant cohort of artists including Ida Barr, Nicki and Ella, PentaPaper and Carboot Disco Bingo.
I had a really fantastic time working at part of the friendly and inspiring team at Home Live Art and look forward to continuing to support their work.
