Dogs of Hastings Launch

Dogs of Hastings Launch

By Nigel Barrett & Louise Mari with Amy Pitt, Lewis Gibson and AK/DK

The Dogs of Hastings Soundwork is now live!

Over the last few weeks artists Nigel Barrett & Louise Mari have been walking the beaches, streets and parks of Hastings and St Leonards talking to people about their dogs and the place they live.

These recorded conversations have been mixed together and set to music by Brighton based synth punk rockers AK/DK as a celebration of Hastings and St Leonards, its beautiful beaches, parks and green spaces, its dogs and the people who love them. Listen below or on Spotify.

How long is a round of Dog Mini-Golf ?
One round of mini-golf will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. There are 10 holes, players get 3 minutes per hole and you can play each hole as many times as you want within the time limit. A gong will sound when it is time to move onto the next hole.

How do I play Dog Mini-Golf ?
Please bring your dogs favourite ball (we will also have some balls in case you need one). When you arrive for your booked time, we will give you a score card. You are competing against your dog to try and get your ball in each hole before your dog steals it. Keep score for you and your dog and see who is the winner at the end.

If I am late for my time-slot for the dog Mini-Golf, can I still come?
Yes, please do still come along and we will try to fit you in for another slot. If you are a little late arriving, we might ask you to wait before you can take part. You can even listen to Dogs of Hastings while you wait!

How much does it cost to play Dog Mini-Golf?
In line with Home Live Art’s commitment for making the arts available to everyone, this event is free to attend and take part in.

Can children and dogs play alone?
Any children or dogs under 16 years of age must be supervised by an adult

What’s the maximum group size to play?
There is no maximum size of a group – however we would discourage people from bringing a pack of dogs.

Is Dog Mini-Golf accessible for wheelchairs?
The two main entrances into Warrior Square Gardens from Oudenaarde Walk are accessible. The course itself is flat but is mostly grass and so access will depend on type and weight of the chair and the weather conditions. Please contact Katy@homeliveart to discuss any access needs.

How do I get there?
Warrior Square Garden is a short walking distance from St. Leonards Warrior Square Station. The site is also on numerous bus routes and in close proximity to the pier underground carpark, which is fully accessible. Further residential parking is available around the area.

Do you have toilets?
There are public toilets at the bottom end of Warrior Square Gardens on the seafront which will be open from 7am to 10pm with an accessible toilet (Requires Radar Key).

Does my dog need to be experienced in Golf to play?
Absolutely not! Our Dog Mini-Golf course is for dogs (and humans) of all ages and abilities. No matter if they are a pro golfer or have never played.
