Workshop on Art & Race
Date: Friday 2nd June 2023
Are you part of the local Black LGBTQIA+ community and looking for a friendly and welcoming space to chat about art?
Then join We Out Here for a free workshop, led by artist Elaine Mullings, exploring the connections between queerness, art and race.
How have well-known Black queer artists told their stories? How can we express a queer identity through art?
The workshop will look at and talk about work by Black queer artists such as Mark Bradford, Nick Cave, Kudzanai-Violet Hwami, Isaac Julien, Mickelene Thomas and Kehinde Wiley.
There will also be an opportunity to get creative using drawing and collage.
This workshop is for all members of the Black LGBTQIA+ community – it doesn’t matter if art is not your thing, perhaps you want to try something different or meet new people. Queer Out Here is all about coming together, sharing thoughts and trying something new.
The workshop is free but must be booked in advance as spaces are limited. to book a place click here
