A late-night queer takeover of Hastings Museum & Art Gallery.

Join us for a Museum Late celebrating the Lemon Laws and Secret Doors exhibition with performances, interactive art, film and DJs.

Experience a version of the exhibition you won’t see in daylight plus performances from cabaret legends – Sharon Le Grande and Oozing Gloop.

Get involved in queer life drawing, listen to erotic readings, watch film mash-ups and find a new friend at the Shag Tag booth.

With DJ Chabala spinning tunes all night, this is set to be a night to remember.

This is an event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in Hastings - open to allies, friends, family and anyone who wants to come together for a good time. Everyone is welcome.

All toilets will be gender neutral.

    General Access

    • All spaces are wheelchair accessible. Some spaces require the use of a lift for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Further details for each space below.

    • Seating will be available throughout the venue, including seats with back support if needed.

    • Accessible toilets available onsite.

    • Visitors are welcome to move between spaces at their own pace.

    • Quiet spaces within the museum are available away from louder activity.

    Exhibition Gallery Space

    • Exhibition space with special additions in UV lighting. 

    • UV lighting will be on in this space and lighting levels will be lower than usual.

    • All film works in the exhibition include subtitles.

    • All sound works have audio transcripts available.

    • A large print version of exhibition labels is available.

    • Very limited seating is available in this space, none with back support.

    Durbar Hall 

    • Performance and dance space with loud music and amplified sound throughout.

    • Seating with back support available.

    • Cabaret performances are spoken and music-based.

    • Wheelchair accessible via the use of a lift.

    Brassey Gallery

    • Interactive installation using written anonymous messaging.

    • Primarily text-based activity.

    • Pens and writing surfaces positioned at a height accessible for wheelchair users.

    • Staff available to assist visitors with writing or reading messages.

    • Wheelchair accessible via the use of a lift to the lower ground floor.

    Seaside Memories Room 

    • Queer life drawing session with facilitated instructions.

    • Materials provided.

    • Spoken guidance throughout.

    • Written instructions will be made available.

    • Blind and visually impaired visitors welcome - facilitators can verbally describe exercises and room layout.

    Ceramics Room - Erotic Readings

    • Live spoken word readings.

    • Seating available - floor seating, bean bags and a limited number of chairs with backs.

    • Lower lighting levels in this room.

    • Printed versions of readings texts available from reception on the night.

    • Wheelchair accessible via the use of a lift to the first floor.

    Grey Owl Gallery - Film

    • Please note - this is not 100% confirmed but likely to be included.

    • Film/visual essay presented on a loop.

    • Moving image content with sound.

    • Captioning included 

    • Seating available - stools and chairs with backs.

    • Wheelchair accessible via the use of a lift to the first floor.

    Sensory Information

    • The event includes changing light levels, UV lighting, music, crowds and amplified sound.

    • Some spaces will be darker and louder than others.

    • Visitors are welcome to leave and re-enter spaces as needed.

    • Staff at reception can help direct visitors towards quieter areas.

    Support

    • Assistance dogs are welcome throughout.
